How we trained the Chipper People team to increase their resilience during organisational and market place change, rapidly out in place a wellbeing programme and gave employees access to book directly with their chosen psychologist.

Chipper Cash is a financial technology company serving more than five million customers across the African continent and in the U.S. Chipper provides cross-border payments, personal investments and digital business transactions. The company has a global employee base. Our goal was to quickly establish an effective, expert, easy to access Wellbeing Coaching and Mental Health service for any Chipper employee regardless of where they were located in the world.

Solution:

Transparent partnership and provision of easily accessed, highly skilled, diverse and multilingual Clinical Psychologists.

ComposurePsychology provided an award-winning, global team of rigorously vetted, HCPC (or equivalent) registered, highly qualified Clinical Psychologists to meet the needs of Chipper and deliver an outstanding wellbeing service.

We developed and delivered a bespoke training experience for Chipper’s People team aimed at increasing each team member’s resilience skills and their ability to then help others in the organisation to ‘Fall, Bounce and Grow’.

A Chipper-centric web page was built to enable employees to quickly find out about the psychology wellbeing offer, to review psychologists’ profiles and make a direct booking in our secure client management system; a platform made for healthcare professionals, accessed by over 13,000 clinicians, plus trusted and used by the UK’s NHS.

Alternatively, employees were matched with a ComposurePsychology clinical psychologist. Employees then received email confirmation of their booking, SMS reminders ahead of their session, a Zoom link and a secure onboarding form where they shared details about their individual challenges and their goals for therapy.

Our psychologists utilised their experience of working with people from all over the world and have different cultural and geographic identities.  For Chipper, this included offering evidence-based therapies in over 14 languages such as Akan, Ewe, Afrikaans, Portuguese and Spanish.

Employees facing a wide range of challenges (changes at work, trauma, death of a loved one, stress, anxiety and depression, navigating professional and personal relationships and chronic health concerns) were provided a safe space in which to learn new tools, strategies for managing discomfort and for developing increased psychological flexibility.

ComposurePsychology provided regular reports to Chipper Cash.  These displayed the number of sessions delivered and the high level reason for which the employee sought support (reported with employee consent).   In addition, six-monthly analysis provided aggregated anonymous employee feedback about the wellbeing service, highlighting brand, retention and engagement factors.  Meetings with Chipper’s Senior Director, People Operations were held to review progress, forecast training needs and discuss ways to further enhance processes.

When we first launched the Wellness Program at Chipper Cash, putting a spotlight on mental health was a huge benefit to our employees, and the psychology and wellbeing coaching service they provided was one of the most popular parts of the program. CP made it easy by creating a webpage where employees could sign up for sessions on their own, and the People team was also able to make referrals depending on the employee's needs.
