Dr Chloe Thompson Booth

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Clinical Psychologist with a broad range of experience working in the NHS, charities and the private sector. I have supported individuals, couples and families facing a range of emotional and psychological problems, working with them to overcome their challenges and move towards living the life they want.

I know how daunting it can be to seek help when life feels challenging. I offer a down-to-earth, open and collaborative style of working, respecting your experiences and your wider environment. My therapeutic approach is integrative and led by your needs as well as by the current evidence base for effective interventions. I have experience in using models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. I am interested in mind-body links and keep these in mind throughout therapeutic work.

Chloe dealt with every member of my family with compassion and respect. She held space for everyones emotions and helped enable difficult conversations that ultimately helped our relationships to heal and grow. I am so grateful for the time we had as I felt like it healed deep wounds in my family relationships and those that I carried in myself. I am very grateful we got the opportunity to work together.

Female, Late 20s, Director Health Industry

I trained as a Clinical Psychologist at University College London (UCL). Before my clinical training, I completed a PhD in Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology (UCL) and was involved in a range of mental health research projects (at King's College London, London School of Economics and Political Science, Imperial College London and Yale University). The majority of my clinical experience has involved working with adults, addressing difficulties such as low mood, worry and anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), perfectionism, difficulty managing emotions, low self-esteem, post-traumatic stress disorder, and relationship difficulties.

In addition to my work in general adult mental health, I am experienced in working with Perinatal Emotional Wellbeing and supporting individuals and couples in their journey into and through the early years of parenthood. Common difficulties during this time include: Feeling low or anxious in pregnancy or postnatally, fears around birth and/or recovering from a traumatic or difficult birth experience, managing the transition into parenthood, feeling disconnected from baby, and changes in relationship as a couple plan for and enter pregnancy and parenthood. I currently hold an NHS role as a Highly Specialist Psychologist in a Perinatal Mental Health Team.

In summary, I am a qualified and experienced psychologist who offers a warm, safe and non-judgmental therapeutic space. I passionately believe in making sure that you feel heard, understood, and that we work together to improve your psychological wellbeing.

My family were initially very opposed to seeking therapy, they didn't know much about it or what it involved. It was thought that therapy was only something sought by families where something was terribly 'wrong'. Chloe totally changed this mindset and we all have come to see her as a valuable support that we will undoubtably return to. The way we communicate with each other has totally changed and we have all learnt so much about each other and ourselves.
